A calm garden for a London family
By London garden designer Declan Buckley. On view year-round through floor to ceiling glazed walls, it is important that this garden keeps its good looks even in the depths of winter.
Clipped evergreen trees and shrubs create green structure in this family garden. A restrained palette of hard and soft materials make a cool clean modern space. The planting scheme is restrained to whites, blues and lime greens and compliments the work of Haus Interieur. Existing mature trees were integrated into the new design.

The garden is on view year-round through floor to ceiling glazed
walls, these slide open to create a seamless flow from inside to
out. The pale reconstituted stone paving slabs were specially cast
to reflect the 42cm square dimensions of the interior floor
tiles.

A long seating wall with in-built planting directs users away from the grass, encouraging them to use the paths.

The structural hedge panels at the end of the lawn area hide the generous children's play space, where trampolining, table tennis and other activities can be enjoyed.

The planting scheme is restrained to whites, blues and lime greens and compliments the interior design by Haus Interieur.

The contrasting textured planting is calming and relaxing. Bursts of seasonal colour are provided by flowering trees, perennials and bulbs.

The existing magnolia tree has been pruned to show off it's twisted branches, and gives an wonderful early spring floral display.
