As Time Goes By Garden

By garden designer Sally Wilding-Webb. As Time Goes By features two designs that represent the same suburban garden in 1985 and 2010, showing how garden design has changed over a 25 year period.

As time goes by garden

The 1985 garden is relatively high maintenance.

As time goes by garden

It includes a central lawn with clipped edges, slab stepping stones leading to a small paved area in front of the tool shed, a patio next to the house, a pond with paved edging, a brick-built barbeque on the patio, and flower borders edging the grass.

As time goes by garden

The 2010 garden features ethically sourced sandstone paving, and a patio that leads between two ponds to a seating area with a raised bed to one side and behind, and a flower bed with scented planting on the other side.

As time goes by garden

This is a productive space in which to relax and escape the pressures of 21st century living.
