By Henley On Thames garden designer Jo Alderson Phillips. This is our own garden here in Henley on Thames.

It was a very dreary dull space that desperately needed some
inspiration. We wanted a real garden 'room' to extend the kitchen
& be enjoyed 12 months of the year, day & night.

I used travertine flags throughout for unity & pained the
walls & raised beds white to tie in with our kitchen. The
colours are restricted to purple, magenta, white & of course
green. The grasses give a beautiful texture & the standard
wisterias create an elegant glamourous feel toward the rear of the
garden.

A wall of bamboos enclose the space & hide an ugly wall
& a wall of mirrors visually extend the garden.

The water is always interesting & the fish give plenty of
interest - the pool is 1.2M deep & has a good filtration system
with UV should be ever feel the need to have Koi. It is a pleasure
to sit in, is very easy to maintain & gives us constant
pleasure.
