By London garden designer Charlotte Rowe. This little South facing garden in West London had tons of potential to be an elegant and pretty entertainment space.

To make it look a bit more spacious, it was decided to break up
the area with a curved old stock brick wall and using a combination
of grey Indian sandstone and granite setts. To keep within budget,
much of the old fence and trellising would have to stay, so these
were spruced up by painting them a dark graphite colour, making
them fade into the background.

The grey and buff hard landscaping palette was combined with a
white and purple planting palette. Two existing trees, were
underplanted with shade loving plants including Hydrangea
macrophylla 'Teller White', Pittosporum tobira Nanum,
Liriope muscari 'Monroe White', Hydrangea arborescens
'Annabelle', Schizophragma
integrifolia, Aquilegia vulgaris Alba and Digitalis purpurea
Albiflora.

In the curved raised beds, Lavendula angustifolia
'Munstead' and Rosmarinus
officinalis are interplanted with Campanula lactiflora Alba,
Alchemilla mollis and
tall white lilies (Lillium
regale).
