Small Residential Garden
Designed by Charlotte Rowe MSGD. This garden was shortlisted in the Small Residential Gardens category in The SGD Awards 2012.

The brief for this 80sqm plot was to create a stylish, contemporary, family garden - with no lawn. To avoid over-paving, a key design decision was to break the space up into two principal seating or dining areas connected by a pathway, set amongst large beds of rich planting to soften the hard landscaping. A key issue was that the house stood over 60cm above the garden and the creation of an upper terrace level in timber decking worked both functionally and visually to avoid undermining the building’s damp proof course. Key brief on this garden was a modern take on an English country garden.
