VIDEO - Bromley Hall

By Julian & Edwina Robarts. Bromley Hall has a 4½ acre garden developed by owners surrounding C16 farmhouse.

Some elements are traditional - box hedging, Irish yews, greenhouse and kitchen garden, mown paths through rough grass. Others are witty and modern - a column with gilded lizards and butterflies, a grove of white poplars surrounding cranes and a modern formal garden on the site of the old hard tennis court. Columnar hornbeams stand sentry at each end and Japanese privet standards surround a rectangle of gravel for petanque. Everywhere there are places to sit, view and contemplate. Good autumn colour, flowers and seedheads.

What Shoot members say...

"Shoot is by far the best gardening site and offers so much it is well worth the subscription charge. I use your site so often that I actually have it as my 'homepage' and a shortcut on my iPhone"
