I planted acorus gramineus variegatus clumps as marginals around my pond about 6 weeks ago. The plants are in hessian bags filled with aquatic compost, growing through slits in the hessian. Initially the plants looked healthy, but now they have black patches and look distressed. Any thoughts regarding malady and remedy?

Hi Norman - any chance you could take a photo and add it here? If yes, reply to yourself or to me and add up to 3 images. It might help others identify what is wrong. Cheers Nicola

Hi Nicola,
I have tried uploading the photos, but they are too big, so instead I have put them on the internet at the following address:
https://www.dropbox.com/gallery/9034591/1/Acorus?h=1d9dc9
If you copy it into the address bar of your browser, you hopefully will be able to see the photos.
The Acorus Gramineus are in the inner ring of the hessian bags, planted in the John Innes aquatic compost which fills the bags. In between the acorus are bogbean (menyanthes trifolata), water forget-me-not (myosotis scorpioides) and lesser spearwort (ranunculus flammua).
Hope all this works!
regards,
Norman

I should add that you need to click on the first photo in Dropbox in order to see it much larger in a slide-show. Move from slide to slide using the left and right arrow keys.

Hi Nicola, I put photos on Dropbox and sent you the link a few days ago. Have you managed to view them? It looks to me as though my acorus gramineus are dying. I am mystified as the marginals I planted right next to them are doing well. All planted at the same time. Any thoughts or advice you can offer will be much appreciated. regards Norman

Thanks Nicola. Any idea what might be wrong with the Acorus? They seem to be dying, whilst other plants planted right next to them on the same day are thriving!
