I planted 17 Agapanthus 'Blue Giant' Late summer early autumn they died down completely over winter and there is no sign of anything shooting. Could they all have died? Or is it normal.
Thanks

I live in Oregon and I garden in zone 6 which states the that temperatures can drop to -10 degrees Fahrenheit. I have Agapanthus' Headbourne hybrids" that was developed in England, I have had them for 15 years, so that might be the variety you want to grow. They do like good drainage, so mixing gravel in the soil might help too.

I had these in the garden for the first time last year and took a very long time to show any signs of growth above ground. I don't think they were getting enough sun to thrive. When they had finished flowering I removed them to a pot in order they get the drainage they prefer and could sit and bask in full sun.
Can I suggest that you have a wee root around just below the soil to see if there are any signs of growth? I done this last year - as like yourself I was beginning to despair!
Good luck!

Thank you.
I have had a root around and most of the crowns
that are all dried up just fall off when touched with nothing to be seen underneath. But one has signs of life a small tatty shoot!
So still hoping !
