Snail/Slug eggs?

Now and again I come across eggs like these, in pots of left-over compost etc. I assume they are from slugs or snails, but am I wrong in thinking that the eggs are a bit too big? I am sure somebody can put me straigt!

Snails eggs are like this too, usually found just inside a hole in the soil.
