It is a perennial with huge,long,strappy leaves but he best thing is the spectacular flower it sends out once a year. This is composed of several individual flowers. Each year it gets bigger with more individual flowers. The perfume is tremendous and only gets switched on after dark and it reaches my house which is about 12 metres from where the plant is situated. I have been told the name before but didn´t write it down and so forgot it. Won´t do that again!!

Is it crinum? I can't grow them here, the leaves look like crinum leaves, ginger is stalkier.

It is indeed a crinum Crinum asiaticum I think. Thanks for your replies.
