Nymph Water Lilies

from Joanne 9919

I'll have to look out for those. I didn't think a pond so small would take any kind of water lily.

Strawberries

from Joanne 9919

Thanks for your replies. I'll get them planted out then. I've just about finished the bed that they're going to go in.

Wildlife Pond

from Joanne 9919

Hi Fi,

I don't think my pond would be big enough for a water feature in it, it's only 84cm X 64cm.

I would love water lilies but again, I think my pond is too small. I know there are some dwarf varieties, but I think even these are too big.

Aubergines

from Joanne 9919

Thanks Kathy. I'm planning on growing it in the greenhouse so I'm hoping that it will be plenty warm enough.

I'll keep you informed how I get on.

Strawberries

from Joanne 9919

I had some strawberry plants delivered at the back end of last year, so I potted them up and kept them in the greenhouse over winter so that the frost didn't get to them.

I have now moved them outside, but because they have been kept warm in the greenhouse, some of them now have flowers on them.

Will I be ok to plant them out now at the allotment or would you keep them in containers this year?

My Wildlife Pond

from Joanne 9919

Well I finally got my small pond in and decided on the plants for it. I chose Typha Minima - Mini Bulrush, Mimulus Luteus - Monkey Musk, Caltha Palustris - Marsh Marigold and Oenanthe Japonica Flamingo - Variegated Water Celery.

I thought I would show you a picture of it.

Aubergines

from Joanne 9919

I haven't had any success with aubergines in previous years, but this year my aubergines are about 8 inches high so far and are just getting their 6th true leaf. They're looking nice and healthy so I'm hoping for better things. I hope I don't go and lose them now.

Does anyone else grow aubergines and have you had success with them? Any tips?

Harrod Horticultural

from Joanne 9919

Thanks Fi,

I've just been reading about Stephanie Harrod (of Harrod Horticultural) in Grow It magazine. There is an article about her kitchen garden, quite interesting.

Peas

from Joanne 9919

Hi Fi,

Yes, I have planted my peas already and they have germinated.

I never covered them when I grew them in containers and they were fine, but I'm growing quite alot more on the allotment so I want to cover them really to protect them from the Pea Moth. I don't know what size netting to use though.
