Soil drainage: Moist but well-drained

Soil pH: Alkaline

Light: Full Sun, Partial Shade

We acquired this garden in September 2008 and it didn't have a single plant in it. We had a clean slate of 2 grass circles and lots of gravel. Since then we have added a herb patch, a hornbeam hedge, a fern garden and veg patch. We have also been planting as many plants as we can in the gravel for year round interest and to give some depth and height to the garden. It feels like a little oasis now and I love pottering around in it.

Turning our patch of gravel and grass circles that were put in by previous owners into a luscious green garden full of our favourite plants and plenty of produce. We have a very long way to go.
