The garden was completely re-designed at the end of 2003. We have the River Thames flowing at the bottom and so the design had to take into account the fact that the garden is seen from passing boats as well as walkers along the tow path. The house is also set up above the garden in case of flooding and this means that the whole garden is visible at one glance. There is no way I could have 'garden rooms' . My husband insisted that the river had to be totaly visible - no tall shrubs or trees to obscure the view! We started with a circular lawn and had a wide semi-circular path put down one side with a pergola and five flower beds around the lawn. These are colour co-ordinated - red, orange and yellow; blue, mauve and lilac; dark pink and green; pinks and white. We have a summerhouse in the far right corner which takes in the setting sun in the evening.Liz Holder's garden plan
