About me
A silver surfer living in Eastern Sicily since 1966! One husband, one son and 3 spoiled rescue cats!

Gardening expertise
Keen but Clueless

Biggest gardening accomplishments
No garden but a raised (waist high) flower bed of about 10 metres in length and half a meter wide; it boasts sun and partial sun according to the season. I love hisbiscus, one lovely yellow one came with the apartment when we bought it in 2005 and I have added another 4 of various colours. One that looked dead, but I planted 'just in case', has flourished and is superb going from strength to strength. This is one of only 2 hibiscus that have scented flowers (Hibiscus Arnottianus) and is native to Hawaii. It flowers abundantly from August to January giving off this beautiful scent. This year I've added a mallow tree with white flowers and some English mint brought by friends from England. Have added 3 sweet pea shrubs which are doing brilliantly. The false heather has self seminated and is doing well as is, finally, the jasmine officinalis.

Biggest gardening frustrations
The garden is too small for all the plants I'd love to have! The climbers are proving difficult, but I persevere! Lost my bottlebrush tree suddenly in March for no apparent reason and my hydrangea is really struggling too:(

The gardening project I am currently working on
Just try to keep it looking nice.
