About me
I am an amateur but very keen gardener and when I started my present job nearly nine years ago, I was given the chance to turn a very sad and neglected garden into something lovely. I have always wanted to create a garden so this was a golden opportunity. I love growing plants from seed and cuttings and as my employer has a beautiful large garden, open to the public, I have a wonderful chance to propagate some beautiful and unusual plants for my own use. I am more into flowers and shrubs, than vegetables. I am also very interested in wild flowers and try to keep parts of my garden for them, and to grow bumblebee friendly flowers as I am a keen bumblebee conserver.
Gardening expertise
Very Keen
Biggest gardening accomplishments
Turning a wilderness into a very pretty, very rural, though rather chaotic, country garden. Finally learning and remembering many plant names and greatly increasing my knowledge about them and their care.
Biggest gardening frustrations
Not being able to take a photo of my entire garden because of its shape, and basic lay-out, (an enclosed square) which I cannot change. An aerial close up is what I really need!
Pruning and spraying the tops of shrubs, trees and climbing roses and clematis because I am quite short!
The gardening project I am currently working on
My "lawn". The turf was laid over cobbles and is only about four inches deep. This has lead to problems with moss and plantain, due so I am told to poor drainage. I also want to edge it properly and to edge round the roundels and sites where I have plant
