Comment from Mark Pumphrey

Whilst not the most inspired shrub this is a great plant for adding some interest to a shaded area. Ensure that it is not planted in waterlogged ground as you will get root rots that will kill new growths turning them black. As a male plant this will not produce berries so if you are wishing red berries use Aucuba 'Variegata'. The shrub once established will reach heights up to 1.5 m high and with a similar spread.
