I've read that once flowered, the foliage will die back over the summer - I'm in a sheltered London garden, is this still likely? anybody in my area with experience of growth rate on clay and if it does 'disappear' over the hot summer months?

Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba' (White bleeding heart) has been used in The HESCO Garden by Leeds City Council for Chelsea Flower Show 2009.
