Symptoms

- Bolting is a process in which vegetable crops runs to seed. Some vegetables can become unusable if they bolt, but careful selection of cultivars and sowing dates can help deter the problem.

Bolting is triggered either by a cold snap or by changes in day-length. Once started, flower production usually cannot be prevented and can result in a ruined crop.
