Symptoms

- Leaves discolour and wilt or fail to appear in spring. Gum exudes from infected trunks, roots and trunk may be covered with a white fungal web under the bark, and black bootlace-like strands can also occur beneath the bark and on the roots (resembling old roots).

Honey fungusFinally, clumps of honey-coloured, pale-stemmed toadstools which glow at night may grow round the base or roots of infected plants. Infected plants may die quickly or take a number of years to die.
