has anyone been successful with gardenias in london?

Question from denise libert revedin

obviously temperatures in england are ideal in summertime but in winter will fall below the range that gardenias love. sun strength and humidity in london should be ok...has anyone grown these outside? i am thinking of a sheltered spot that gets light from the north and east (morning sun)...
