Symptoms

White wooly wax appears on the twigs of the alder from late May onwards. This pest may stunt growth, but is seldom so troublesome.

Spot them

Sap-feeding insects 2-3 mm long. Nymphs have wide, flat bodies, large eyes and wing buds. Adults have two pairs of wings and can jump and fly.
