Symptoms

The stems and foliage of hydrangeas are covered with brown scale insects and white oval egg masses in early summer. Heavily infested plants lack vigour and look unsightly.

Spot them

The young nymphs hatch in midsummer and suck sap from under leaves.

Question from Alison Goodyer

The bug killer does not seem to be killing off the scale on the hydranga what should we do? We dont want it to effect the rest of the hydrangas

What Shoot members say...

"As a very rusty beginner gardener, I find it invaluable, extensive, extremely easy to navigate and not overwhelming."
