Question from Ray

Can Prunus laurocerasus be used as a low border edging plant instead of Box Sempervens and if so what is the minimum height recommended. Will there be a problem with "Runners"

Prunus laurocerasus

Comment from Miriam Mesa-Villalba

The small white flowers grow in erect oblong spikes and offer nectar and pollen to bees. This is an excellent nectar source when in flower and a good one even when it isn't as it has extra-floral nectaries on the underside of the leaves which are very popular with hoverflies (especially Episyrphus balteatus), ants, bees and ichneumon wasps.
