Genus: Thuja
Variety or cultivar: 'Atrovirens' _ 'Atrovirens' is an evergreen conifer with red-brown flaking bark. It has a conical habit and dark-green, neat foliage that may become bronze-tinted in winter. It is slower growing than leylandii and makes a very good hedge.

I have planted Thulas about 4ft 3 months ago and now find the leaves are red, any idea why?

This plant is used in the Perfume garden by Laurie Chetwood and Patrick Collins in their Perfume garden for Chelsea Flower Show 2009. They say 'Leaves are the source of thuja oil used in some perfumes'
