Bridges and screens - Water feature garden

By London garden designer Charlotte Rowe. This long narrow town garden in central London is paved in pale buff limestone inset with two cedar decked pontoons bridging the 10 metre long water rill which runs down the length of the garden.

Matching specially made cedar benches and trellis unite the whole area and glass screens further divide the space up.

A row of pleached hornbeams (Carpinus betulus) underplanted with Geranium 'Johnson's Blue' and spring bulbs such as Tulipa 'Spring Green' run along the end boundary wall to help screen the gardens behind and provide more privacy and three multi stemmed Amelenchior larmarkii growing through the paving and the pontoons, provide spring blossom and Autumn colour.

Clipped Prunus lusitanica, Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle', Helleborus argutifolia, and Pittosporum tobira 'Nanum' interplanted with Euphorbia cyparissias, Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue' and Veronica prostrata complete this rich mix of quality materials and lush planting.
