Faith Ramsay and Louise Hay Case Study

Garden designer, Faith Ramsay of My Country Design Solutions introduced her client to Louise Hay to Shoot.

Louise Hay, from Reading, Wokingham, was looking to overhaul her garden. She approached garden designer Faith Ramsay who helped transform her outdoor space with beautiful planting.

Louise’s garden was a 1.2 acre space with numerous mature shrubs, some of which were quite old and badly in need of rejuvenation or removal. Faith’s design removed the existing weed-ridden borders and included two sets of tiered borders at the rear of the garden to lengthen the perspective and screen the fence.  The design also included reshaping existing borders to the side of the garden to allow for a more interesting route around the garden for Louise and her young family. These new borders were then planted with a mixture of shrubs, perennials and bulbs and where possible existing shrubs that suited the new scheme were rejuvenated and in some cases replanted.
Louise loves pottering about in the garden but was not particularly confident in all she was doing. With that in mind, Faith introduced Louise to Shoot. We had the opportunity to speak with Louise about her garden design experience and how she uses Shoot today.

"The Shoot website is brilliant. I have propagated several plants based on their advice and cut back and dead headed things all over the place. It is exactly the sort of thing I need. You can also take a photo of plants and it will tell you what they are and how to look after them etc… which is ideal for me."

Shoot has given Louise focus and confidence in her garden tasks. With the advice on Shoot, she has started propagating plants, something she says she would have never attempted before. Louise particularly likes the care notes for maintenance, the plant tips in our newsletter, the propagation advice, and the opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people in our forum. She is also looking forward to swapping plants with green-fingered friends she meets through Shoot.

"Shoot is a nice way to gather all your plants in one place, to know specifically what it is and how to maintain it. Shoot also recommends suitable plants which increase passion and knowledge of plant collections and cultivars."
