Rob tells us about his Kent garden and using the Husqvarna auto mower. Sponsored article May 2017.
My name is Rob and I live in Kent. My garden is about ¾ of an acre, with a formal area near the house, then a small woodland area (with grass and a smattering of Birch, Oak and Sycamore trees), then up to a meadow. It has a slope on it, from the house up to the meadow.
I recently had the opportunity to get my hands on a Husqvarna auto mower. I was worried the auto mower might find this a challenge. I worried unnecessarily. When it arrived, my new tractor mower looked upset. And rightly so. The auto mower handles the garden easily and the grass looks incredible, better than my neighbour, and that’s important! Being serious for a moment, because it constantly cuts the grass regardless of weather and time of day, it ‘grazes’ the grass. Previously, I would cut it with a tractor mower once a week, and it didn’t do the grass any favours. Whenever I look out on the lawn now, it looks amazing, all the time and I don’t get that “I really need to cut the grass” feeling. It manages to navigate the trees, even though there are quite a few of them, it cuts the grass everywhere, equally.
The local Husqvarna retailer handled the install, with a boundary wire around the garden. The mower just bounces off this. I’d say that a competent DIYer could do the install if needed. All the family love it, he’s been named “Mo” by the children. You often hear someone saying “Mo’s out” when he takes himself out from his charging unit and into the garden. The dogs don’t seem bothered by it either. I had someone round to look at a couple of trees that need to come down, a local tree specialist. He immediately saw the mower and told me he had the same thing. If it’s good enough for a professional tree surgeon, then it’s good enough for me! I’d never go back to cutting the lawn every week. I was skeptical when it arrived, now I am converted. Always have your lawn being cut for you! Now if they could invent one that cuts the hedges twice a year automatically, I’d be sorted!
