By Garden Designers KURITA-MAY designscape. The garden was designed for a hard-working couple to create 'Chill-Out' and socialising spaces in order to take advantage of their valuable spare time at home.
The clients wished the new garden to be 'something simple, stylish, and practical'.
In order to transform their existing
awkward 'long and narrow' garden we laid out three functional
spaces using angles effectively to fulfil the clients' requirements
for the new garden. - decked area, central seating space, and
Secret Garden at the rear. This picture above shows the central 'Chill-Out'
space with customised steel planters & benches.
Key plants for this garden are: Black Bamboos (Phyllostachys nigra), sweet boxes (Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis), Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Purpurea', Scabiosa autropurpurea 'Chile Black', grasses (Eragrostis trichodes), Russian sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Spire'), and passion fruit (Passiflora caerulea)
Their front garden was also
transformed to unify with the rear garden. Sweet box hedge (Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis) used along
the path way to the front door offers distinctive scent and all
year interest.
Black foliage of Ophiopogon
planiscapus 'Nigrescens' looks great with snow drops
(Galanthus nivalis)
against white stone chippings.
