By Sussex based garden designer Anna Helps. A wonderful Sussex garden with views to the wider landscape.
A grey sandstone hard landscaping palette sets off a stunning summer planting mix of purples, blues, pinks and silver. A beautiful sandstone wall with a lonicera nitida hedge adds structure to the design, and a sunken seating and sunken vegetable garden introduce level changes to a flat plot.
Perennial planting beneath Prunus lusitanica half standard trees. Geraniums, Nepeta and Agastaches tumble onto the path, softening the edges.
Lonicera nitida hedge taking shape. This will create a bright evergreen block of colour above the wall line during the winter months.
Contemporary lines of the horizontal slatted fencing are echoed in the stone wall beyond. The client had requested a self-contained dog garden close to the house, and the fencing enables that.
Helichrysm italicum and Sesleria autumnalis add evergreen structure to the herbaceous border.
