The Urban Retreat Garden

By Garden Designer Richard Golding Garden Design and Manor Landscapes. The garden has been designed to provide a retreat where one can relax and escape the pressures of everyday modern living.

It is primarily intended for a busy working couple, provides space for entertaining, but is also family friendly; safety measures have been incorporated in the design of the water feature.

The fences are two metres high to provide screening but to afford improved visitor viewing of the show garden. The garden contains two structures made from locally sourced Oak: arches to provide support for the climbing plants whilst also framing the soft curves of the pathway.

The gazebo is the structure which forms a focal point and draws the eye within the garden as well as providing a secluded place to sit and relax on warm sunny days.

The water feature consists of a 0.5 metre globe that nestles among pebbles again echoing the curves of the paving design.

The water is pumped up the centre and flows over the globe producing a soothing sound to quieten the urban hum, drawing your focus away from the outside world and back to the natural environment.
