By garden designer Bruce Waldock. We might think that virtual reality is a modern concept, but gardeners, and particularly Japanese garden makers, have long been creating virtual worlds.
Bruce Waldock at Outerspace Designs hopes to expand upon this, bringing a virtual reality inspired space to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
Central to this Japanese inspired garden is the “Bauble”; a place for work, leisure and to socialise in the virtual world. It represents the now, satisfying today's appetite for accessing everything and anything immediately.
The surrounding garden is also symbolic: the careful arrangement of stone, gravel and plantings is an interpretation of nature and everything natural, but it is also absolutely virtual reality. Plants are bamboo, acer and buxus
