Hi Ewan some helpful replies from our followers again:

"Deutzia I can't remember other name."
"It is one of the Deutzias, methinks. There are umpteen hybrids in circulation, flowering at slightly different times in spring/summer and all slightly different shades of pink/rose."
"Possibly Deutzia ningpoensis or in the family. Definitely in the Family - Hydrangeaceae and Genus - Deutzia."
Hope that helps?

Identifying Deutzias

Comment from Maurice Wilkins

In forum: Identify a plant

There were two Deutzias in my garden when I arrived - see picture. The one on the left is almost certainly 'Pride of Rochester' as it has a pink reverse to the back petals. The one on the right has pure white flowers but they are only half the size. Does anyone have any ideas as to its identity please?

I think it's Deutzia scabra 'Candidissima', unless the reverse of the back petals are pinkish, when it's probably Deutzia scabra 'Pride of Rochester'.

Strangely I came on here to ask a Deutzia question myself!

Thank you very much. Looking at similar pictures of Deutzia Gracilis that's exactly what it is. I'm most grateful. Martin

You don't say how tall it is, but from the looks of the flower it could be deutzia gracilis, a nice shrub that can act as a ground cover.

The third one (blue) is a Aquilegia or columbine.
The first could be a double Philadelphus - are the flowers out now and highly scented? Or it might be a Deutzia?
The middle one, I would need to see more detail of the leaves to be sure of it.

The leaves are nothing like ceanothus which are small and rounded.
Maybe some sort of Deutzia?

How do I add a plant that is not listed on Shoot?

Question from Julie Goldsmith

In forum: How to use the site

I would like to add a plant to my plant list - Deutzia parviflora 'Pink Pompon' but it's not on Shoots plant directory. Is it possible to ask Shoot to add it to their list?

3rd is another Cotoneaster - something like Cotoneaster x watereri 'John Waterer' perhaps?
