Just a thought, as you may have already considered this.
You could try Gaura lindheimeri for successional planting in this instance. Depending which part of the country your in, it will flower through till the end of November (weather permitting!) Its pretty hardy and will cope with the competition from your Dicentra. In flower they are generally white with a touch of pink i.e.Gaura lindheimeri 'Whirling Butterflies', 'Siskiyou Pink' is pinker 'Karalee White' is well.. white!
