Rampant rose leaf eaters!

I have 3 roses quite close together a Rosa Canina (I think!), a William Shakespeare and a Madame Alfred Carriere. I have had problems in the past with caterpillars eating rose leaves but this year they have gone bananas!

Rosa canina

Comment from Miriam Mesa-Villalba

The dog-rose produces conspicuous scarlet hips in autumn, sometimes known as dragon's eyes. These are edible and high in vitamin C, and they are often used to make syrup, jellies and other preserves as well as in the treatment of bladder and kidney disorders. They are eaten by birds and small mammals such as bank voles.
