In forum: House plants
My tip, which I had to figure out the hard way, is that whenever you purchase a plant from one of the DIY stores, always replant them into a slightly larger pot when you get home. They have usually overgrown the small pot that you have purchased them in and you will notice them drastically perk up within a day of repotting.

My tomatoes, carrots and peppers seem to not thrive in the containers I have them growing in. Could it possibly be because of the container itself?

I have 2 lavatera which are 2 years old, and 3 bought this early summer. The new ones have grown very well, except this week some of the leaves have turned yellow, and are dropping off. The foliage on the older ones dont look as healthy, and some of the leaves are also turning yellow. I thought lavateras retained their foliage, but maybe this is just a natural consequence of approaching Autumn. Any advice please?

In forum: Lawns
my lawn was laid by my builders and unfortunately, the soil wasn't tamped down as well as it should have been. Now I have a lumpy lawn. Additionally, the drainage seems to be patchy - well drained in some areas and almost boggy in others. Any ideas/suggestions on how to recover? Or am I best served having new turf laid in the spring by professionals?
