Severe damage from leaf curling aphid

We have what I think is a bad attack of this aphid on our damson tree. It’s now July and most of the leaves are curled and damaged. What is the best way to treat it now and will the tree survive?

I have found a product which seems work well, and doesn’t affect the fruit at all. It’s a natural organic treatment called Natures gift ,every spring my draft diamond terrace tree suffers, but if I wash it in this liquid made from worm casts it does the trick. But is important to remove the affected leaves.
