Hi we have a tricyrtis formosa which seems to be dying, do we need to prune it during the winter?

I cut back a lot of my perennials, keeping a little part of the stem so I know there is something in the space come spring. Of course some plants like helleborus, bergenias and some rock garden types are evergreen.
