Best implement to prune a laurel hedge?

Please can you suggest the best tool to prune a laurel hedge that is about 3m high and 10m long?

I was thinking of a hedge trimmer but was recommended a pruning saw, as it would make the hedge look neater and not damage the leaves.

Hi - do you mean portugese laurel? A a rule of thumb, if the hedge leaves are big like with Prunus lusitanica, then pruning with secateurs, loppers etc produces the best finish; big leaves will get shredded by trimmers & then they die back & go brown making your hedge look sad. So if it is the large-leaved laurel, do it by hand with a saw & secateurs for a professional looking finish to be proud of!

Thanks. It is several laurel hedges together, so high and long!

What makes of tool would do the job? Can anyone suggest some please?
