A friend brought me a big bag of Double Early tulip bulbs back from Amsterdam and I would love to plant them in containers on my balcony now (end March). My balcony is west-facing.
Is this a complete no-no because of the season ?
Thanks
Victoria

Hi, Victoria,
There are different opinions on what to do. Some say put them in the ground since they are living bulbs that don't want to be stored for too long. Others say store in a cool, dry place. Problems are if you plant now, they might be confused and expend to much energy trying to flower when they might not have had the time to store enough energy or have had the proper chilling period. On the other hand, trying to store them for too long could result in dried out or rotted bulbs. Personally, I would go ahead and plant them - nothing ventured, nothing gained, I say.
Best of luck,
Kathy C
