I have a Lace Lady in a large pot its about 18yrs old, I need to repot it to a bigger pot when is the right time ?

Hi, Joan,
Given the age of your Robinia, it is best to repot in early spring, just as new growth is starting. When was the last time you potted it up? If the rootball is considerable tangled, and it looks as if the roots are girdling (growing in a circular direction around the inside of the pot), you will want to root prune, removing no more than 1/3 of the roots

Thank you for your reply, sounds like I need the help of a professional when the time comes, as it's a substantional tree now.
It hasn't been repotted for a least 8 years ! so it's going to be a huge task I think, it feels like I'm going to perform major surgery ????
