Hi, can anyone please help identify this plant we saw at Hidcote Manor.

It is at least 1 meter tall with dense almost thistle like foliage.

It is called Acanthus....very spikey, wear gloves :)) hope this helps

Accanthus spinosus to be exact, it goes dormant in winter unlike the mollis, it is also better behaved than the mollis, I would still try to curb it.
