Do I cut cosmos back to just above the root or take the whole root out?

Hello Bronwen,
Typically removing annuals involves removing the entire plant - root and all. Some experts suggest this is best to prevent discourage root-feeding nematodes from feeding and breeding on old root systems.
All the best,
Kathy C
