I have got a self seeded plant in my garden that I have given the benefit of the doubt for 18 months now. It doesn't seem to have done much and I was wondering whether I should pesevere. I attach a photo. It is a shrub about 0.5mx0.5m with silvery green downey leaves. The leaves look a little like sage but are narrower and have no fragrance. It looks (almost all the time) like it is about to flower. You will be able to see what look like pinkish sepals. However, it has never flowered. Can anyone help with identification. Thanks.

It looks a bit like Cistus (rock rose) to me. Give it a few more weeks!

This is indeed some form of cistus. A more definite I.D. may be possible once we know what colour flower appears. They are sun worshipping plants so if the sunshine continues, it shouldnt be long before your buds open.

Thanks. I think you might be right. I do indeed have flowers after all this sun. What a stroke of luck!
