After paying a whacking 25.00 for our this plant in April, we came back from holiday to find the leaves had turned brown and dry. I cut a few branches back, in the hope it will regenerate. I have today noticed a couple of new buds. So I am hoping it will recover. Has anyone else had this problem ?

If it is newly planted, it could have easily dried out, nandinas are tough shrubs, but I give my shrubs 3 years to settle themselves before I quit watering them, I'd still keep an eye on them, so much depends on soil, tree root congestion and of course extent of sun. I am glad to know it is making a recovery.

Have taken your advice to water more. We have quite a high water table here in Moreton. We had no plants when we moved in 5 years ago, so most of them are new. Thank you for your advice :)
