I want to relocate 4 of my bamboos (6' high with a few canes). When is the best time to do this. I believe the variety I have is the lectomorphs.

Fall is a great time to do any transplanting, it gives the plant 3 seasons to adjust to the new environment. Is it a running or clump type of bamboo? make sure you know what kind it is and put precautions in place if it is a runner.

I find the best time to move bamboos is between November and February - this is when they are "sleeping" so no risk of damaging new shoots. Some species have a second shoot I the autumn. But be sure to protect the root ball from any frost by packing the earth tightly around it and ensuring no air pockets
