Would ericaceous compost harm plants that don't need it?
Reply from
Hi, I was told by a gardener friend of mine that he often sticks ericaceous soil in pots as standard, when potting up new displays, because unless a plant is very specifically a hater of that sort of soil, which would be on its label usually, then the vast majority of plants won't mind ericaceous soil at all. Many of our native plants grow in forests and areas where the soil is naturally veering towards ericaceous too. I use the same in all my pots now and it really helps.
