Fall is always a good time , Sept., How big is it? stake it for the first winter against winter winds, if it has been in the grounds for over 5 years, moving it might be tricky.

Brilliant - thanks for the tip - it's only 3 years old but strangling nearby plants against a fence. Will wait till September to attempt to extract it! Bridget
