I found this self sown plant in my garden and have no idea what it is. Can anyone help me. Thanks

It looks a bit like what my neighbour calls Joe Pye Weed, and the internet has just told me is called eupatorium. I dig it out as a weed, because it's usually where I don't want it and it is quite tall and messy in the late summer. But maybe others will disagree!

Hi there I think it Eupatorium maculatum and is beloved by butterflies, as its quite tall could it not fit at the back of a border rather than be treated as a weed?

Thank you so much for the information. As crocus is selling it for £8.99 I think I will let it flower then decide if I want to keep it. This is the first time it has appeared in my garden.
