Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me to identify the plant that's growing alongside my desert rose. At first I thought that it was a new desert rose but after going away for a few weeks it's spread across the whole pot and seems to be a bit 'viney'. The stems are a purple colour and there are a few tiny yellow flowers blooming on it now, the leaves are green and oval shaped. Is this a weed that should be got rid of for the health of my desert roses or is it something that I can leave? I live in Dubai so the climate we're in is very hot!
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm very new to gardening!

Hi Victoria,
Try Portalaca oleracea '"Purslane" in Portulacaceae. If you agree that it is then it would normally be considered as a weed although very pretty and sweet how the flowers close up when the intensity of sun reduced.
Best wishes,
Samantha Jane
