My pier is is getting a bit sparse, can they be pruned smaller to encourage growth on the lower branches?

Hi,
Yes, they can be pruned after flowering. Having said that, hard pruning can bring mixed results - some bounce back quickly, others really resent it and never recover. Having said that, good drainage, the right soil, and the correct amount of sunlight should keep Pieris compact and bushy.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I think I'll take a chance and prune it back. It's not looking too good anyway, so I'll take a chance. Many thanks
